Recalling war sites of the Philippines

IN response to the article “A Return to Wartime Philippines” [Aug. 7]: I could not help but remember my first visit to the country in June 1991.
I was certain that I would visit these World War II sites that the writer mentioned, and I did.
I remember the tour of Corregidor, including a rusted cannon that was being given away if one had the desire and money to transport it to the U.S.
