Editor’s picks: LCD Soundsystem

James Murphy, the unlikely elder statesman of cool, has always laced LCD Soundsystem‘s dance-punk fervor with an endearing wistfulness, from the abashed self-consciousness of “I’m Losing My Edge” to the heartfelt nostalgia of “All My Friends.” LCD’s latest album, “This Is Happening,” continues the trend from the get-go, with a weary Murphy mulling companionship on the slow-building but ultimately incendiary album opener, “Dance Yrself Clean.” Holy Ghost will open.
