A state Department of Fish and Game helicopter crashed this afternoon in Madera County, killing at least one of the four people on board, according to preliminary information from federal officials.
The Bell 206 copter may have struck a power line while surveying land near Willow Creek on the west side of Lake Reddinger, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The crash occurred about 12:25 p.m., said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.
The registered owner of the aircraft is Palm Springs Aviation Inc., according to FAA records.
An FAA investigator was dispatched to the scene. No additional details were available.
