A federal judge Thursday dismissed a lawsuit seeking to remove President Obama from office if he failed to provide “clear” and “convincing” evidence of his citizenship.
The suit was brought by Mission Viejo attorney Orly Taitz on behalf of several plaintiffs, including active and inactive military personnel and third-party candidates in the presidential election.
U.S. District Judge David O. Carter wrote that the plaintiffs “have encouraged the Court to . . . effectively overthrow a sitting president who was popularly elected by ‘We the People’ -- over sixty-nine million of the people.”
In his decision, Carter was critical of Taitz for calling on supporters to inundate the court with phone calls and letters. In a phone interview, Taitz pledged to appeal and to continue filing other legal actions.
