Eye candy galore in this film anthology of love vignettes set in the Big Apple. Could be hit or miss -- directors include a range of talent, such as Mira Nair, Natalie Portman and Brett Ratner -- but with the holidays approaching, potential schmaltz is a forgivable offense. (Friday)

Are you talking about: Hall & Oates’ comeback?

The pop duo’s 1981 hit “You Make My Dreams” turned Joseph Gordon-Levitt into a dancing, love-drunk fool in “(500) Days of Summer” and Kristin Chenoweth into a drunk glee-clubber on “Glee.” Are we in for another Journey-style comeback? The guys are ready, and so is their massive 74-track box set “Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall & John Oates,” complete with track-by-track annotation and commentary. No need to ask. I know you’re talking about: Flaming Lips’ “Embryonic”

Stephen Colbert loves them. So does the great state of Oklahoma, which named the band’s “Do You Realize?” its official rock song in March. No need to alert you that the band’s new album is out this week. It’s the literally -- and controversially -- furry one on the record racks. And since you’ve streamed it, you already know it’s everything you’ve been waiting for and more. (Tuesday)

You could talk about: “Black Dynamite”

The trailer alone should win you over. In the spoof of blaxploitation films of the 1970s, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Black Dynamite -- “supa’ cool and knows kung fu” -- is cleaning up the streets in the wake of his brother’s murder. So righteous. (Friday)
