Wainwright brings people together

TO Richard Cromelin’s excellent article, I would add a note about Rufus Wainwright’s fan base, as it surely is part of his story [“A New Pose, Relative Stability,” May 20].
To attend one of his shows is to be in the company of an incredibly diverse group of people representing a unique range of age, color, ethnicity, sexual preference and style.
No cookie-cutter talent he, and as they sing along to every word of his songs, his growing audience recognizes in Wainwright what it really comes down to: He’s the real thing.
