* Kansas City 10, at Colorado 5 (12 innings): Ryan Shealy’s broken-bat single to right in the 12th inning brought in the go-ahead run. The Royals scored five runs off reliever Ramon Ramirez in the inning.

* at Boston 6, Atlanta 3: Kason Gabbard came up from triple A and struck out a career-high seven batters while shutting out Atlanta for the first five innings. Hideki Okajima gave up a pair of hits in the eighth but escaped with his scoreless inning streak at 20 2/3 over 20 outings. The Braves’ Andruw Jones went 0 for 5, striking out five times.

* San Francisco 4, at Oakland 1: Matt Morris, pitching after consecutive losses by Barry Zito and Matt Cain, pitched a two-hitter and struck out a season-high nine. Randy Winn and Rich Aurilia each homered to back up Morris and Dan Ortmeier had a career-high three hits.

* Chicago White Sox 10, at Chicago Cubs 6: A.J. Pierzynski hit a grand slam in a seven-run seventh inning and Nick Masset won his first major league start. The White Sox scored all seven runs with two out.

* Texas 14, at Houston 1: Mark Teixeira and Victor Diaz each hit two of Texas’ season-high six home runs and Ramon Vazquez also homered and drove in five runs. Vazquez hit a two-run homer in the second inning, an RBI single in the fifth and a two-run double in the ninth.

* at Milwaukee 6, Minnesota 5: Geoff Jenkins homered and had five RBIs, including the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, helping the Brewers rally from a four-run deficit.

* at Washington 4, Baltimore 3: Nook Logan’s two-run single off reliever Danys Baez with two outs in the eighth inning capped a comeback for the Nationals. Baltimore starter Erik Bedard tied a career high with 12 strikeouts, had his first two major league hits and first run batted in.

* at Philadelphia 5, Toronto 3: Adam Eaton pitched four-hit ball over six-plus shutout innings, and Pat Burrell and Aaron Rowand homered to lead the Phillies.

* Florida 4 at Tampa Bay 3: Sergio Mitre gave up three runs over seven innings and the Marlins rallied from a three-run deficit to complete a three-game sweep. Kevin Gregg pitched the ninth for his third save in three opportunities.

* at Cleveland 5, Cincinnati 3: Paul Byrd stayed unbeaten this season at Jacobs Field and Jhonny Peralta hit his 10th homer to start Cleveland’s four-run fourth against Aaron Harang. Brandon Phillips extended his career-high hitting streak to 22 games with a second-inning homer for Cincinnati.

* at Detroit 6, St. Louis 3: Justin Verlander stayed unbeaten in May and Brandon Inge homered to help the Tigers complete a sweep of the defending World Series champions. Verlander pitched eight strong innings to pick up his fourth victory in four May starts and hand the Cardinals their fifth straight defeat.

* New York Yankees 6, at New York Mets 2: Tyler Clippard made his major league debut by striking out Jose Reyes on three pitches and delivered the poised performance the banged-up Yankees rotation needed as the Yankees avoided a Subway Series sweep and stopped a three-game losing streak.

* Arizona 5, at Pittsburgh 2: Randy Johnson, rounding into shape after off-season back surgery, struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings to win his second start in a row. By beating the Rockies and Pirates in his last two starts, Johnson has 282 victories -- leaving him one short of tying Jim Kaat for 29th place on the career list.

* San Diego 2, at Seattle 1: Adrian Gonzalez gave the Padres a 2-1 lead in the third with an RBI single to center, scoring Marcus Giles, who led off with a double.

* at Angels 4, Dodgers 1: Kelvim Escobar pitched eight shutout innings as the Angels completed a sweep of the three-game series.
