When Ian Masters talks, they listen

RECOGNITION for Ian Masters and his Sunday radio show on station KPFK-FM (90.7) is long overdue [“A Quarter-Century of Level-Headed Talk,” May 13]. “Background Briefing” is, simply put, the most provocative, informative and in-depth public service program to be found anywhere on radio. Ian Masters and his fine show deserve not only a wider audience but maybe even a paycheck as well.

FOR over 15 years I’ve chosen Ian Masters over similar morning TV fare. Even though I have quibbles with him and his guests, gems, often inadvertently, surface.
However, a serious but oh so American flaw plays out. The typical guest is a white man. An appearance by a black, Latino or Asian person is extremely rare.
But then, who else in money-mad America besides Ian Masters would volunteer his time and dedication?
