Anaheim man gets life in meth-fueled killing

An Anaheim man convicted of killing one friend and seriously injuring another by shooting each in the face after a four-day methamphetamine binge was sentenced Friday to life in prison.
Manuel Salas, 27, had fled to Mexico after the shootings seven years ago that took the life of Robert Ornelas and injured Joshua Salas (no relation), both 16.
The three, as well as five women, had been watching the movie “The Sixth Sense” in a Santa Ana apartment when Salas started crying, went to the bathroom and came out shooting, prosecutors said.
He was later arrested with the murder weapon while attempting to commit a robbery in Mexico. In 2005, after serving five years in a Mexican prison, Salas was extradited to Orange County.
