The kids, the queen
Visit Buckingham Palace in London and the Fontainebleau forest in France on an eight-night learning vacation featuring a Harvard professor.
Itinerary: Spend four nights in London with an excursion to Hever Castle in Chartwell and four nights in Paris.

Price: $4,995 per person, double occupancy ($695 single surcharge) $3,695 per child (7 to 17), including hotels, some meals, train passage from London to Paris, lectures and children’s programs, entrance fees and transfers. Airfare from Los Angeles is not included.

Mountain leisure
Hike and listen to music at the Bear Valley Music Festival in the central Sierra on a weeklong Sierra Club trip for seniors.
Itinerary: Spend two nights at a mountain lodge and two evenings at the festival in Bear Valley in Alpine County. Scenic stops that may be featured on this trip include part of the Pacific Crest Trail, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Tahoe-Yosemite Trail and Lake Alpine and Inspiration Point in the Stanislaus National Forest.
Dates: July 29 to Aug. 3
Price: $895 per person, double occupancy, including lodging with shared bath, meals and happy hour.
