* at Detroit 8, Baltimore 4: Gary Sheffield broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth with a two-run homer against Daniel Cabrera, two innings after the Orioles starter hit him with a pitch. The pair had to be pulled apart during a bench-clearing incident in the fifth before Sheffield got the last word with his 408-foot shot.
* at Toronto 6, Texas 1: Roy Halladay threw a five-hitter, and Aaron Hill, Troy Glaus and Adam Lind homered for Toronto.
* Angels 3, at Kansas City 1: Vladimir Guerrero had a two-run double and John Lackey (4-2) gave up one run in 6 1/3 innings.
