Wal-Mart Drops Legal Challenge to Ordinance

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. dropped its legal challenge to a city ordinance in Turlock, Calif., that blocked the retailer from building a proposed 225,000-square-foot Supercenter store.
Wal-Mart said it would not appeal a ruling that rejected the retailer’s lawsuit. Two years ago, the Turlock City Council passed the ordinance barring big-box stores of more than 100,000 square feet that devote at least 5% of their space to groceries.
