They May Be Kids, but They’re Still News

Bill Dwyre laments the lack of purity in high school basketball recruiting and blasts all the major print and electronic news organizations who gave extensive coverage to top prospect Kevin Love’s commitment to UCLA. He fails to mention that his own newspaper has given front-page coverage to prep basketball and football stars who have committed to UCLA and USC and others for years.

Simply because Dwyre doesn’t like the fact that high school stars give news conferences to announce their college choice does not mean they aren’t newsworthy and worth more than the scant few words The Times afforded Love’s announcement.
