RE “Doggone It, That’s Good Advice,” by Mimi Avins, July 29: Two barks for Disney! On a scale of 1 to 3, it scores a 2 for warning DVD buyers that Maya and Shaggy are not for everyone and inviting them to check out the American Kennel Club website. Yup, better than a 0 for no warning at all. And better than a 1 for a warning with no guidance to a website. The best of all -- deserving of a top-dog 3 rating -- would be if Disney directed watchers to shelters, pounds and rescues, where purebreds and Heinz 57s alike wait to be adopted. But, hey, who’s biting -- I mean complaining?
