at Tampa Bay 2, Detroit 1: B.J. Upton had a run-scoring single in a two-run seventh inning and reliever Seth McClung (3-10) won for first time since May. Upton, playing his third game since being called up from triple-A Durham, singled to center to tie the score, 1-1. The go-ahead run scored when he got caught in a rundown after rounding first base.
Minnesota 8, at Kansas City 2: Justin Morneau, who is tied for second in the American League with 91 runs batted in, had a run-scoring single in the first and a two-run single in the second. Brad Radke (10-8), a questionable starter because of a tender shoulder, gave up four hits, walked one and struck out six.
at New York 8, Toronto 1: Cory Lidle (1-0) gave up one run and four hits on a steamy afternoon at Yankee Stadium in his first outing since being acquired from the Phillies on Sunday. The Yankees have won four in a row.
