Everyone Bears Costs of Overburdened Courts

Regarding: “Legal Urban Legends Hold Sway,” Aug. 14:
Lawsuit abuse is a real and pervasive problem in today’s judicial system. Every year, hundreds of frivolous lawsuits clog California courts and millions of dollars go straight into the pockets of greedy lawyers.
Unfortunately, the consequences of their greed are borne by all of us in the form of increased costs of goods and services.
We all pay and we all lose in an overburdened court system where too often justice is not served. Serious “common sense” civil justice reforms are urgently needed.
