Mayor Harry M. Dotson, first elected to the City Council in 1990, died Wednesday, one day after his 79th birthday, authorities said.
Dotson, a retired civil service investigator and conservation officer, was taken to a hospital Tuesday afternoon for an unspecified ailment. Dotson’s city service began in 1976 with his appointment to the planning commission.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara, and son, Thomas. Funeral services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Stanton Boys and Girls Club Teen Center.
