A San Pedro man died about 90 minutes after he and five associates were wounded in a drive-by shooting in front of a house in the 900 block of West 24th Street, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Wednesday.
Officials said Mervin Leroy, 18, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The five others wounded were expected to recover.
Police said the shots were fired from a black sport utility vehicle. The attack apparently was gang-related, detectives said, and the suspect remained at large.
