Rapist Who Disfigured Woman to Begin Parole
- Share via
A man who has served nearly 20 years in prison for raping and disfiguring a Fresno woman was scheduled to be released from custody today, officials said.
Sherman Polk, 48, will begin a three-year parole sentence, the California Department of Corrections said. Officials said they were still seeking permanent housing.
Polk was scheduled to move into a Stockton rehabilitation home in April; public outcry delayed the move.
A month later, while under supervision in a hotel room, Polk threatened a parole agent and was sent to Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy.
Polk is being relocated to San Joaquin County because his victim still lives in Fresno.
