From Times Wire Reports
A bomb detonated by remote control killed at least three police officers on patrol in Dagestan, the latest incident to hit the troubled region amid fears about spreading violence in the Caucasus.
The bomb exploded as a four-man patrol walked along a downtown street in Makhachkala, the capital of the Caspian Sea region, a police officer said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
In recent months, the violence in Dagestan has outstripped that in Chechnya.
