Two men were arrested early Saturday after a gun battle with sheriff’s deputies in the 2200 block of 121st Street, authorities said.
Deputies tried to stop a speeding car driven by Theodore Millander, 23, about 12:30 a.m. Millander refused to stop and fired shots at the officers, said Deputy Luis Castro. People at a nearby house party also opened fire on the deputies.
Millander stopped the car and ran away while exchanging fire with a deputy, Castro said.
Passenger Alvin Jenkins, 25, who was still in the car, was arrested. Shortly afterward, deputies apprehended Millander, who was hiding in a nearby vehicle, Castro said. Each man was held on $1-million bond.
