Diverse Group Supports Adelphia Acquisition

“Cable Merger Dissent Grows” (July 28) missed the central development in the pending acquisition of Adelphia Communications Corp.’s cable systems by Time Warner Inc. and Comcast Corp.: The deal enjoys the support of a bipartisan and diverse number of organizations, a rarity in an ever-increasing polarized and partisan world.
The National Black Chamber of Commerce, which serves 100,000 black-owned businesses, joined this coalition recognizing that the Adelphia acquisition will save jobs, offer small and minority-owned businesses new opportunities and provide consumers with an $800-million investment in upgraded, advanced digital networks.
