Seized Land to Be Given to Army Officers

President Robert Mugabe said his government planned to allocate land to 6,000 officers in the armed forces under a redistribution program.
Mugabe began a drive in 2000 to seize large tracts of white-owned commercial farms for redistribution among blacks.
Critics say disruptions to the agriculture sector linked to the land seizures have caused food shortages over the last five years, but Mugabe blames drought.
