Guilty Verdicts Reached in Dog Track Bribe Plot

A dog track and two former executives were found guilty in Worcester of conspiring to bribe the speaker of the Rhode Island House with up to $4 million to arrange support for allowing more slot machines at the track.
No bribe was paid, and the House speaker was not charged. But the Lincoln Park dog track, former general manager Dan Bucci and Nigel Potter, former chief executive of Wembley PLC -- the British firm that until recently owned the track -- were each convicted of conspiracy and wire fraud.
