A 43-year-old motorcyclist from Anaheim died Thursday after he swerved to avoid a car with a flat tire and crashed on Interstate 5.
Leslie Garner was traveling south in the carpool lane just south of the San Joaquin Hills tollway about 5 a.m., CHP officials said, when he noticed a car stopped ahead of him.
Swerving to avoid hitting the car, he hit the vehicle’s right side before veering out of the lane into the path of an oncoming car, which knocked him off his motorcycle.
Garner was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, where he died, officials said.
A passenger in the car with the flat tire suffered minor injuries.
