Greenberg’s Lawyers Respond to Allegations

Lawyers for former American International Group Inc. Chief Executive Maurice “Hank” Greenberg have questioned a decision to cut $2.26 billion from the insurer’s net worth and said PricewaterhouseCoopers’ role in the insurer’s accounting woes should be examined.
The 51-page “white paper” sent to federal regulators in recent weeks, and seen by reporters Thursday, gives Greenberg’s response to claims made against him by AIG and regulators as they uncovered accounting irregularities at the world’s largest insurer earlier this year.
