Dance grants: Four Los Angeles-based dance artists -- Adriana Astorga-Gainey, Heidi Duckler, Oguri and Cheng-Chieh Yu -- have received grants of $10,000 each from Dance/USA and the James Irvine Foundation “to support the creation and public sharing of new work.”

Marshal Dillon: To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic TV series “Gunsmoke,” the Encore Westerns channel will run a 50-hour marathon of episodes and related programming, beginning Aug. 26.

Donation: L.A.’s City of Hope said it will use a $50,000 grant from pop star Britney Spears’ charitable organization to offer art and music therapy to young cancer patients.
