Bad timing

I am writing in response to Nicolai Ouroussoff’s characterization of the board of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as “gutless” (“The One That Got Away,” Dec. 22). It seems to me that the board members have come to their senses. The idea of purposefully destroying almost all of the buildings of the museum so soon after the destruction of the World Trade Center was grossly insensitive. The timing was terrible. In addition, what major donor would be interested in contributing to the new building knowing that it too will be torn down when it no longer fits the latest architectural fad?
