Columbia Will Pay Millions in Medicaid Suit

Columbia University has agreed to pay $5.1 million to settle a civil complaint alleging it billed Medicaid for services under the names of doctors who did not provide the treatments, federal prosecutors said. Columbia did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
The payment settles the government’s civil lawsuit against Columbia over Medicaid payments the university received for delivering babies and other obstetrical services to patients at Allen Pavilion, a community hospital in New York City.
