8th Suspect Is Arrested in Shooting at Party in 2000

Tustin police have arrested a 22-year-old Aliso Viejo man in connection with a shooting at a Halloween party two years ago.
Seven gang members had been arrested and convicted of the shooting, but Chuong Van Nguyen had fled to Texas.
Nguyen recently returned to California and was arrested at his parents’ home in Aliso Viejo on Thursday night without incident, police said. Nguyen’s bail has been set at $500,000. Police had issued a felony warrant for Nguyen on charges of attempted murder and conspiracy.
Police say Nguyen was involved in an argument that started between members of a notoriously violent Vietnamese/Cambodian gang known as We Don’t Care and some high-school-age partygoers in the Tustin Meadows housing tract. Although gang members wielded clubs and fired semiautomatic weapons into the crowd, no one was seriously hurt.
