Moore, Olson to Split Duty

Freshman quarterbacks Matt Moore and Drew Olson know the competition to determine who will start next season begins now. And in the Las Vegas Bowl, they will compete on even terms.
Olson will play the first and third quarters. Moore will play the second and fourth.
“I’m glad we are doing it this way,” Moore said. “I’d prefer knowing when I’ll be in the game.”
Moore forfeited his redshirt status when he played the entire game in a victory over Stanford one week after senior Cory Paus and Olson were injured against California. Moore also played in relief of Olson against Arizona, USC and Washington State.
Olson went the whole way to beat Washington, played well against Arizona and struggled along with the entire team in losses to USC and Washington State.

Bruin seniors are excused from practice today, the team’s last before flying to Las Vegas to prepare for the Christmas Day game. The 13 seniors are expected to get substantial playing time.
