Resolution: A court commissioner in Burbank, following the recommendation of a probation court, dismissed drug possession charges against “The West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin following his completion of a drug rehabilitation program. Sorkin, 41, pleaded guilty last year to charges stemming from his arrest at Burbank Airport with rock cocaine, marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms in his possession.

Extension: A day after “The Rob Nelson Show” was canceled, another freshman entry in the syndicated daytime arena got renewed -- for two years. The producers and distributors of “Dr Phil” said Thursday that the host, Dr. Phillip C. McGraw, had extended his contract through the 2005-06 season.

Addition: Cable’s TNN will introduce a new awards show late next year. The Video Game Awards will feature categories like hottest graphics, the hottest hero and heroine, most addictive and best free-for-all carnage.

Christo: A group that helps run New York City’s Central Park approved artist Christo’s plan to drape 26 miles of winding walkways in saffron-colored cloth next February. The plan still needs approval from the city’s parks department. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said he supports it.
