From Times Staff and Wire Reports
County health officials said Thursday that they had confirmed the county’s first flu case of the 2002-03 season, in an infant from the South Bay.
The county Department of Health Services said flu shots are the most effective way to prevent the illness. The department’s health information line -- (800) 427-8700 -- can provide the names of low-cost medical clinics that offer the vaccine. It takes 10 to 14 days for the vaccine to become fully effective.
