Pakistan Denies Nuclear-Sales Charge

Re “End the Nuclear Double Standard for India” (Commentary, Dec. 9), on U.S. nuclear policy toward India: In making a case for reviewing the current posture of Washington, Selig Harrison casually takes for granted the “fact” that Pakistan has transferred nuclear technology and equipment to North Korea.
This allegation by Harrison is merely that -- simply an allegation. There are no facts on the ground to support such speculation, which has been irresponsibly repeated by various media outlets.
The president and government of Pakistan have unequivocally conveyed to the international community that Pakistan’s nuclear program is under strict and tight control and safeguards.
Pakistan is a responsible nuclear power and is fully cognizant of and aware of the implications of fissile material and nuclear proliferation.
Pakistan never has and never will engage in any activity that would undermine and violate international protocols governing nuclear technology.
