One child was critically injured and another received minor burns when gasoline used to clean paint supplies accidentally ignited in a house.
A 10-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy were watching adults clean painting supplies with gasoline about 3:45 p.m. in the 600 block of West 101st Street when the pilot light from a hot- water heater ignited the gasoline and the two children were burned, said Bob Collis, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Collis said the girl was taken to King-Drew Medical Center, where she was in critical condition with facial burns. The boy was treated for minor burns, Collis said. No adults were injured.
