Valley Christian Rolls Past Brethren Christian

Brethren Christian running back Leon Green had a 28-yard reception for a touchdown on the Warriors’ opening drive against Cerritos Valley Christian, but things went downhill from there.
Valley Christian running back Josh Twedell had three first-half touchdown runs to help the Crusaders post a 54-22 victory in an Olympic League game Friday at Valley Christian High.
After the first score, the Crusader defense shut down quarterback Kyle Painter, intercepting four passes and returning two for touchdowns.
Joshua Castillo returned a second-quarter interception 56 yards for a score and Greg Verhoeven added a return of 85 yards on a pass he tipped in the air and then intercepted.
Crusader running back Chris Weaver had touchdown runs of four and 11 yards as Valley Christian (7-1, 2-1) built a 47-14 lead.
Painter had a late touchdown run from three yards before Michael Huff added a 45-yard touchdown run for the Crusaders to finish the scoring.
Painter completed 16 of 46 pass attempts for 184 yards and one touchdown. Brethren Christian fell to 1-6-1, 0-3.
Twedell led the Crusaders with 100 yards rushing and 51 receiving.
