John Bailey

I regret that Geraldine Baum, in her profile of Joe Lieberman (Oct. 20), found it necessary to refer to the late John Bailey as “a Connecticut ward-heeler.” To reporters of an earlier generation, Bailey was a gifted politician on both the state and national level and a man who never lied to us. He knew what a ward was but he was a good deal more than a ward-heeler.
