Amber Steen
Newport Harbor, Cross-Country
Steen finished second in the team sweepstakes race at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational. The senior finished in 17 minutes 47 seconds, the top time among county runners.
Steen finished 27 seconds
behind winner Sara Bei of Santa Rosa Montgomery. Steen held the lead midway through the race, but Bei, the race’s individual winner the past two years, passed her at the two-mile mark and went on to the victory.

Didn’t lose a game in Corona del Mar’s win over No. 2 Dana Hills and lost only one against No. 8 Laguna Beach.

Had 16 saves in goal and scored as Edison beat previously undefeated Newport Harbor and second-place Marina.
A.J. Martinez
Edison, Football
Martinez, a cornerback, intercepted two passes and recorded punts of 72 and 53 yards in the fourth
quarter as the No. 4 Chargers
defeated
No. 2 Los Alamitos, 29-14,
Thursday night at Veterans Stadium in Long
Beach. He also blocked a field-goal attempt in the second quarter. Both interceptions came in the final six minutes of the game, with the second shutting down a long Los Alamitos drive to seal the victory.

Made 22 saves in three games as the No. 3 Sailors defeated No. 2 Villa Park, No. 4 Foothill and No. 7 Los Alamitos.

Santa Margarita, Cross-Country
Was the top county performer at the Mt. SAC Invitational, finishing fourth in the individual sweepstakes in 15:17.
