The contrast between two candidates could not be more distinct than between candidates for District 1 supervisor. This difference is perfectly exemplified by the position each has taken on Measure O and the way each did it.
Steve Bennett’s opposition to Measure O was prompt, decisive and simply stated. Jim Monahan’s response, on the other hand, was evasive, long-delayed and, to put it politely, disingenuous. He was obliged to reveal his support of Measure O by a vote of the Ventura City Council.
Monahan actually believed he could have it both ways at once: benefit from the financial support of Community Memorial Hospital (the sponsor of Measure O) and avoid alienating the majority of voters, who are opposed to Measure O.
Our choice is clear: Bennett for supervisor.

I’ll happily vote for Bennett for District 1 Supervisor. He’s as qualified for the office as I imagine anyone could be.
