M.O.P.’s Forebears

Soren Baker’s article was a little misleading (Hip-Hop Report, Oct. 8). By mixing rock with rap, M.O.P. didn’t exactly beat artists combining rock and rap, such as Korn or Kid Rock, to the punch. M.O.P.’s debut album came out in 1994 as did Korn’s, while Kid Rock’s debut album came out in 1990.
Not to mention the many artists that combined these styles before it was accepted (Rage Against the Machine, Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys).
