Marquee Races Highlight Mt. SAC Invitational

Most of the top high school cross-country teams and individuals in California will be competing this morning at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut in the marquee races of the 53rd annual Mt. SAC Invitational.
The event began Friday with 28 races in divisions III, IV and V.
The boys’ and girls’ team and individual sweepstakes races highlight today’s 55-race schedule for divisions I and II.
The featured races are: boys’ team sweepstakes at 9 a.m.; boys’ individual sweepstakes at 9:20; girls’ team sweepstakes at 9:40; and girls’ individual sweepstakes at 10.
Billy Nelson of Taft High near Bakersfield had the fastest boys’ time and Clara Horowitz of Oakland Head-Royce had the fastest girls’ time in Friday’s races.
Nelson clocked 15 minutes 2 seconds over the 2.95-mile course in the Division IV sweepstakes.
Horowitz won the Division V sweepstakes in 17:45.
