The City Council will consider a proposed lease agreement between the city and the Santa Margarita Water District at its meeting tonight.
The agreement would allow the city to use the water-district property, at 27204 East La Paz Road, to park city vehicles, following the completion of the new City Hall.
The city is considering the lease in order to create additional parking for residents visiting the Mission Viejo Library or City Hall.
Residents and the city’s Planning Commission have expressed concerns about the limited parking available at the new city facility, which is under construction across the courtyard from the library at the corner of Marguerite Parkway and La Paz Road.
The City Council meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 25909 Pala.
