The Recreation Department will present “Music Born in America” at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in the community room at Crown Valley Park, 29751 Crown Valley Parkway.
Portraying Johnny Appleseed and Sister Sally, musicians Gary Francisco and Sandii Castleberry will demonstrate the beginnings of American folk music. The program covers musical sources in the Appalachian Mountains, then travels across the Western plains. Instruments featured include banjo, fiddle, guitar, washtub and spoons.
The show is for all ages and audience members will be invited to take the stage and participate in a frontier band hoedown at the end of the show. Cost $3. Information (949) 425-5100.
