St. Bernard 22, Chaminade 12--The Eagles were outscored, 14-0, and outgained, 250 yards to 105, in the second half after taking a 12-8 halftime lead at St. Bernard.
St. Bernard (4-1-1) went ahead for good on quarterback Marshawno Gauff’s one-yard sneak with 7:13 left in the third quarter, five plays after Hershel Peter’s 41-yard run gave the Vikings a first down at the Chaminade 16.
The Eagles (3-2) missed a chance to regain the lead early in the fourth quarter when Amin Abusaleh dropped what would have been a touchdown pass and Bryan Borreson was wide right on a 44-yard field-goal attempt.
St. Bernard drove 80 yards in nine plays on the ensuing possession, culminated by Sylvon Marshall’s two-yard touchdown run.
Chaminade junior Chris Abichaker ran for 104 of his 113 yards in the first half, including a 77-yard first-quarter touchdown.
Erik Vose of Chaminade completed eight of 17 passes for 108 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown to Josh Jones in the second quarter.
