Toon Helps Serve Up Victory for La Reina

Sara Toon had 15 consecutive service points in the first game to spark La Reina High to a 15-3, 15-1, 15-4 victory over Carpinteria in a girls’ volleyball match Thursday at Carpinteria.
Jennifer Ryan had 14 kills for La Reina (16-0, 4-0 in Tri-Valley League play), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.
Ashlie Hain, who committed to UC Irvine this week, had 16 assists.
Harvard-Westlake def. Alemany, 15-6, 13-15, 15-9, 15-4--Karalyn Kuchenbecker had 17 kills and Courtney Schultz added 14 for the Wolverines in a Mission League victory at Alemany.
Kimberly Quiroz had 16 digs for Harvard-Westlake (25-2, 4-0), ranked No. 1 in the region.
Hart def. Burroughs, 15-5, 15-2, 15-9--Middle blocker Colette Ramirez had a .929 hitting percentage for Hart (6-3, 4-0), with 13 kills and no errors in 14 attempts in a Foothill League match at Burroughs.
Ramirez also had four blocks.
Saugus def. Canyon, 15-13, 15-12, 6-15, 15-8--Dustin Joyce had 10 kills and the Centurions pulled into a second-place tie with the Cowboys in a Foothill League match at Canyon.
Julia Bradley added seven kills for Saugus (6-2, 3-1).
Windward def. Buckley, 12-15, 15-3, 15-5, 14-16, 15-5--Julia Benyon had 15 kills in 26 attempts for Buckley (6-4, 4-4) in a Liberty League match at Windward.
Oxnard def. Rio Mesa, 15-2, 15-2, 15-0--Sarah Morrison had 20 kills, Sara Naumann had 13 and the No. 3 Yellowjackets (12-3, 4-0) won a Channel League match at Rio Mesa.
Village Christian def. Malibu, 15-3, 15-3, 15-2--Marica Abaca had 10 digs and eight kills in a nonleague victory for the No. 7 Crusaders (15-1) at Malibu.
Westlake def. Simi Valley, 15-13, 15-2, 15-9--Brenn Larson had 18 digs and seven kills in a Marmonte League victory for the Warriors (9-1, 7-0) at Simi Valley.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Calabasas 18, Nordhoff 0--Erin Everly, Celia Durkin and Monica Wiesener improved to a combined 73-1 by sweeping singles play in a Frontier League match at Calabasas (12-0, 2-0).
San Fernando 6, Kennedy 1--Sonia Rangel won at No. 1 singles and Michelle Ascencio at No. 2 for the Tigers (8-0, 5-0) in a Valley Mission League match at Kennedy.
Granada Hills 7, Cleveland 0--Cristina Dao and Yuka Otaka did not lose a game in singles play in a West Valley League match at Granada Hills (8-0, 5-0).
The Highlanders have not lost a set this season and extended their winning streak to 24 matches.
Cleveland is 7-1, 4-1.
Harvard-Westlake 17, Alemany 1--The Wolverines lost only eight games in a Mission League match at Cal State Northridge.
Jessica Leck at No. 1 singles, Shilpa Madhaven and Katelyn Rader at No. 1 doubles and Isabel Bussarakum and Jennifer Jason at No. 2 doubles did not lose a game.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Ventura 9, Santa Barbara 8--Adam Payan blocked Ryan Caswell’s five-meter shot as time expired and the Cougars held on for a Channel League victory at Santa Barbara.
Nick Wagner scored four goals for Ventura (9-1, 3-1), which played aggressively on defense. Goalkeeper David Miller had six saves and five steals.
Caswell had four goals for Santa Barbara.
