A 43-year-old Anaheim man was killed early Wednesday when his car crashed into a wooden pole in the 1000 block of South East Street in Anaheim, police said.
Kelly Richard Johnson died from head injuries, officials said. He was driving alone about 1 a.m., heading north on South East Street, just north of Ball Road.
“The lane narrows a little bit there, there is a slight jog in the road,” said Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez. “It appears that he did not negotiate that slight jog and he ran up on the curb.”
From there, Johnson’s vehicle struck the pole, Martinez said. Johnson was not wearing a seat belt, Martinez said.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call investigator Rick Alexander at (714) 765-1861.
