* Canyon High’s boys have risen to ninth in the national rankings by Harrier magazine.
The Cowboys were not ranked among the top 25 teams as of Sept. 17. But a 1-2-3-4 finish by senior Nick Zoetewey, juniors Luke Llamas and Jameson Mora, and sophomore Ryan Morgan in the first Foothill League meet of the season on Sept. 28 and a runaway victory in the Division I race of the Kenny Staub Invitational at Crescenta Valley Park on Saturday helped them move into the national poll.
Canyon is ranked fifth in the West region behind Mountain View (Utah), the top-ranked team in the nation, No. 2 Long Beach Poly, No. 5 Flathead (Mont.) and No. 7 Gallup (N.M.).
