El Camino 14, Saddleback 3--Robert Hodge’s two touchdown passes--nine yards to Dennis Jones and six yards to Darin Pope--were enough to upend the host Gauchos (1-4), who managed only a 41-yard field goal from Shane Harris.

Saddleback running back Keller Christensen carried 21 times for a game-high 148 yards, but in his second start at quarterback, Oscar Montecinos completed just one of nine passes for 18 yards.

Fullerton 36, Long Beach 26--Quarterback Jeff Crooks completed 13 of 24 passes for a career-high 221 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 15 times for 80 yards to lead the Hornets to their first victory.

He threw two scoring passes to Jeff Weber--41 and 11 yards--and another of eight yards to Ben Reneau as Fullerton (1-4) took a 22-6 lead in the third quarter.

After Long Beach (2-3) scored a touchdown in the first quarter, Fullerton’s Guy Porter ran the kickoff back 86 yards to make it 7-6. Byungwoo Yun added a 30-yard field goal as the Hornets took a 10-6 halftime lead.

Riverside 31, Golden West 12--Marcus Guzman carried 28 times for 190 yards and scored two touchdowns for host Riverside (4-1). Golden West (0-5) led, 12-7, at halftime on touchdown runs by Monty Kuresa and Anthony Zaragoza.
