Moorpark 13, Santa Barbara 9--Tim Bird threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Nikolas Lewis with six seconds remaining, lifting the Raiders to a WSC Northern Division victory at Moorpark.
Bird’s strike capped a five-play, 72-yard drive that began with 54 seconds remaining.
During the drive, Birdcompleted four of five passes, including a 42-yard pass play that put the ball on Santa Barbara’s 18-yard line with 12 seconds remaining. Bird was nine of 14 for 122 yards.
Lewis had eight receptions for 138 yards and Ray Carmel rushed 19 times for 110 yards.
Shawn Nakamura kicked field goals of 35 and 30 yards, giving Moorpark (4-1, 3-0) a 6-0 lead midway through the third quarter.
Santa Barbara (0-5, 0-3) scored on a safety when Carmel muffed a handoff that went out of the end zone. J.J. Bruner returned the ensuing free kick 87 yards for a touchdown and a 9-6 lead.
