Birmingham 37, Verdugo Hills 14--Wide receiver Ramal Porter scored three touchdowns to help the Patriots (5-0) overcome 277 yards in penalties at Verdugo Hills.
Porter returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and caught two touchdown passes from Scott Jensen in the third quarter covering 15 and 49 yards. Porter finished with four receptions for 102 yards.
Jensen completed 13 of 27 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns. He threw touchdown passes of 12 and 50 yards to John Walker, who had six receptions for 107 yards.
Verdugo Hills managed only 41 yards and scored on three-yard runs by Michael Cloud early in the third quarter and Michael Tabarez with 1:45 to play.
